Volleyball 'B' Division South Zone Championships By Ko Yu Hui (3I)
On Wednesday February 16 2011, the B division Cedar volleyball players competed against Fairfield Methodist for the South Zone B Division championship. Cedar lost with the scores 14-25, 25-18 and 25-17, despite being the defending champions in 2010 and clearly giving their best in the match.Initially, Cedar started off well.

However, the situation changed by the 2nd set with the arrival of the Fairfield supporters. Armed with loud cheers that clearly intimidated, it was the opposite at Cedar's side of the court due to the absence of supporters. (It is understandable that the school would not want Cedarians to miss their lessons) One of the players, defender Quak Gu Ting was nursing a sprained ankle herself at the time of the match. However, she still played with as much gusto as the whole team.

When asked how she felt after the game, she commented, rather rejectedly, " Cedar was on form during the first match but when the supporters arrived during the second match, our team morale dropped. By the third set when we tried getting ourselves back in to the game, it was too late."

After this setback, we hope Cedar Volleyball will put this match behind them and aim for a better result at the Nationals. No doubt, the school will try their best to fully support them this time.
